Our work in Bristol

Remodeling and building in Bristol.

Bristol is a rural village in Kenosha County, west of Interstate 94, where farms, horse properties and nature areas share the map with neighborhoods. Planning a job here can differ from a tight village lot. We look at the land, the drainage and the driveway access along with the house itself, then draw a free design that fits all of it.

That mix shows up in the work. Some Bristol jobs are kitchen and bath remodels in established homes. Others are decks, porches, roofs or siding on properties with room to spread out. Pembroke Construction is licensed, insured and bonded, and your estimate and design are free. One crew stays with the job from first measurement to final sweep.

The area

About Bristol.

Bristol became a village in 2009, and the rest of the former Town of Bristol joined it in 2010. The 2020 Census counted 5,192 residents in 2,201 housing units, with a median age of 46. The village sits west of Interstate 94 and is described as an equestrian community, with lakes, nature areas, farms and horse properties. Bristol Woods Park has more than four miles of trails, the Hansen Park pavilion becomes an ice rink in winter, and the Bristol Renaissance Faire runs each summer. The village covers roughly 33 square miles, so lots and homes vary a great deal.

Projects

What we build in Bristol.

Local conditions shape the work. Here is what we pay attention to in Bristol.

01

Decks and porches on bigger lots

Larger lots leave room for a bigger deck or screened-in porch. The village asks for a zoning permit, site plat and plans, plus neighborhood association approval where one applies.

02

Replacement windows and doors

The village says no permit is needed to replace windows or doors when the size stays the same. Changing an opening is different, so we check first.

03

Roofing and siding

Roofing and siding work needs an online permit with contractor information. Tear-offs often reveal rot or flashing problems, so we check decking and trim before closing things in.

04

Kitchen, bath and basement remodels

Interior remodels need an online permit and one set of plans. We provide a free design first, so the plans reflect what you want.

Every trade

Everything we do, in Bristol.

One crew handles the whole list, so a kitchen and a new roof can share one schedule.

Good to know

Permits and local details.

Every town has its own rules. Here is what we found for Bristol.

Bristol's online permit process

Bristol handles building permits through its Village Hall office and an online permit application. Building inspections happen Tuesdays and Thursdays, roughly 8 a.m. to noon, with 24 hours' notice. Every contractor on a job is listed with a Wisconsin license number, and incomplete applications are not reviewed. We walk you through it so the application is complete the first time.

Neighborhood associations and zoning

Decks, pools, sheds and fences in Bristol need a zoning permit, except sheds under 150 square feet, and the village asks for neighborhood association approval where one applies. If you live in an association, send us the covenants early. That way the design fits the rules before the application goes in.

Septic systems and additions

Some Bristol properties have private septic systems. For additions and new construction, the village asks for a Kenosha County sanitary permit when there is a private system, and the county says septic systems are sized by bedroom count. If an addition adds a bedroom, check septic capacity before you commit to plans.

Do I need a permit to replace windows in Bristol?

The village says replacing windows or doors does not need a permit when their size does not change. If you are changing the opening, plan on a permit. Roofing and siding do need an online permit. Rules can change, so confirm with Village Hall at (262) 857-2368. We walk you through what applies to your job.

When can the Bristol inspector come out?

The village lists building inspections on Tuesdays and Thursdays, roughly 8 a.m. to noon, and asks for 24 hours' notice. Inspections run in stages, ending with a final. Call Village Hall to schedule. Because those days are limited, we plan the job sequence so work is ready when the inspector is.

Can you build a deck in a Bristol neighborhood with an association?

Yes. The village asks for neighborhood association approval with deck applications where one applies, along with a zoning permit, site plat and plans. Send us your covenants early. Our free design gives you something concrete to submit to the association, so you are not waiting on drawings after the fact.
